Muscle shrinkage and weakening is almost inevitable as we age, but dancing is one of the best exercises to help us stay young. Dancing improves aerobic capacity, balance and spacial awareness, while the need to remember steps exercises vital parts of the brain.  It's also a great social activity, and a fun way to get out of the house and meet new people.  Come and give it a go.

Jane Doe - Another Company, LLC

I wish I'd learned to dance years ago!  I'm loving the music and have met so many lovely people.  Dancing is so much more fun than going to the gym for my exercise.  Its social as well.

Jane.
Now that I've learned a few dance moves my friends are impressed when I go and ask ladies I don't know for a dance.  The ladies are also impressed :).

Sunday 26th August Special night of  Bush Dancing

As a special one off experience we will have Jane from the Victorian Folk Music Club come along and teach us some fun bush dancing on Sunday 26th Aug from 6.30 - 8pm.

This will be a fun night that will be suitable for your non dancing friends as well so ask them along.

Australian Bush Dancing has its roots in the very early settlement of the colony, and was influenced by the styles and customs of the early settlers.  It became a popular form of social dancing in both the country and the city, but only got its name during the folk revival in the 1950’s – you have quite likely done some of this at primary school.
The Victorian Folk Music Club runs a bush dance with a live band on the first Saturday of the month at Ringwood East Senior Citizens hall, 8-11pm $12.

We will also do rock n roll and progressives on the night as usual.

Beginners swing class @ Chatham Sunday 19th Aug - one night only

For something different we have a beginners swing / lindy hop class on Sunday 19th with guest teachers Sarah-Jane and Graham from Sylvester Dance Group, 6.30-7.30pm.

Following the swing class we will have plenty of social dancing to swing and rock n roll music, plus some line dances and progressive dances to keep everyone on the floor.

To give everyone a taste of different dance styles on Sunday nights, last week we tried square dancing, this Sunday is swing, and then on Sunday 26th Aug we will learn some bush dancing.

Come and join the group and have a go at something different.

Until I tried these dance classes I thought I had 2 left feet!  Now I have the confidence to ask ladies to dance and I'm having a ball!
John.
The dance classes are great fun and you get to meet everyone there as you change partners all the time.  Learning to dance has been something fun to do.  If I've had a bad day at work I get to the dance class, it puts a smile on my face, I start  moving to the music and forget about everything else.
Mary.
Now the kids are older, it's time for us to get out and do something fun together.
