Second Bush Fire Fundraiser

Bush Fire Benefit At Eddies Poolroom

Adrian organised a second bush fire appeal at Eddies Poolroom last Friday night and it was a roaring success in more ways than one. Three bands offered their services freely plus Eddies Poolroom chipping in as well. The bands were the Treblettes, Lost In Louisville and the Pearly Shells Hot 5. About $3,500 was raised on the night through a mix of entry fee, silent auction and raffles.

It was advertised as a swing night but rock n roll was thrown into the mix as those who attended came from the two dance genres plus the music on offer was swing, jump blues and rock n roll. Nevertheless, it was a great night full of fun and for a very good cause. I was particularly pleased to see the Treblettes for the first time. The trio performs mainly as a tribute to the Andrew Sisters. I was also impressed with Lost In Louisville as well. The band came out to perform after being away from the scene for many years. As the name suggests, the band does tribute to the great 1940's jump blues tunes of Louis Jordan.

Well done to all who attended and special thanks to the bands & Eddies Poolroom who donated their services for free. Well done to Adrian too!

Bush fire fundraiser dance

Bush Fire Benefit Event - Eddies Poolroom Fri 17th Jan 2020

A bush fire benefit gig featuring the Honky Tonk Rockers and Jump Cats was held at Eddies Poolroom last Friday night drawing in a big crowd of rock n roll and swing dancers who were very enthusiastic to do their little bit in support of those communities devastated by the recent, and ongoing, bush fires around Australia. It was a fantastic night of dancing to country rock music by the Honky Tonk Rockers and jump blues from the Jump Cats. Announcement of total collection on the night was eagerly waited and it came to over $5,000 collected from entry fees, raffles and personal donations. Well done everyone! This is a wonderful effort and congratulations go to all who came to support the event, Eddies Poolroom, the bands involved and Adrian who organised and coordinated it.

This is tangible proof that rockers not only love their music and dancing but they also care for the community at large and especially those hit by tragedies and natural disasters like floods and bush fires. Our rock n roll community should feel proud having held such events in the past, and I am certain we will continue the tradition of showing goodwill in future years to come.

Another bush fire benefit event at Eddies Bandroom is scheduled for Friday, 7th February with three bands playing - the Pearly Shells, the Treblettes and Lost In Louisville. Please come along to support this second bush fire benefit event. Come and dance to the bands and have a great time. But most of all, come with a big heart in support of those who have suffered great losses in the bush fires.

Another fundraiser dance will be held at Maribyrong Bowls Club on Mon 27th Jan 2020 also organised by Adrian and Red Hot Rockers.

Live bands and dancing from 1pm to 10 pm will be held at the Maribyrnong Bowls Club located at 195, Holmes Road, Moonee Ponds. There will be 5 bands contributing freely of their time and music to the bush fire appeal dance and they are the Fender Benders, Joe Galea Band, Josie & the Corvettes, Kid James Trio and the Uptown Cats.

Please come along to have a great time listening and dancing to the bands and, most importantly, showing your support to a worthwhile cause as the recent and ongoing bush fires have caused great devastation to our National Parks and property losses in our regional community. For booking, please contact Adrian on 0452211860. Entry fee is $20 for a great day of entertainment and dancing..

Bush dancing special night Sunday 26th Aug 2018

Sunday 26th August Special night of Bush Dancing

As a special one off experience we will have Jane from the Victorian Folk Music Club come along and teach us some fun bush dancing on Sunday 26th Aug from 6.30 - 8pm.

This will be a fun night that will be suitable for your non dancing friends as well so ask them along.

Australian Bush Dancing has its roots in the very early settlement of the colony, and was influenced by the styles and customs of the early settlers. It became a popular form of social dancing in both the country and the city, but only got its name during the folk revival in the 1950’s – you have quite likely done some of this at primary school.

The Victorian Folk Music Club runs a bush dance with a live band on the first Saturday of the month at Ringwood East Senior Citizens hall, 8-11pm $12.

We will also do rock n roll and progressives on the night as usual.

Here's a video link to a bush dance routine.

Dance performance at Hawthorn Town Hall

Posted by jocbloy on September 26, 2017 at 1:05 AM Comments comments (0)

DANCE PERFORMANCE on Thurs 20th and Fri 21st July @ Hawthorn Town Hall

Red Hot Rockers were invited to perform in an event at the Hawthorn Town Hall on Thurs 20th and Fri 21st July, called the "Inaugural Annual Dance Affair" put on by the Boorondarra Council.

28 students worked hard over 8 weeks to learn a routine to the Olly Murs song "Dance with me tonight". The event was a fabulous night with a sold out crowd on Friday night. The Red Hot Rockers were the opening dance group and filled the floor with red and black outfits and lots of high energy dancing.

For many this was their first taste of performing in front of a crowd and they all loved it. The challenge of learning and remembering over 40 moves, as well as adding styling and flare, was apprecaited by all. The bonding and coming together as a group was also a great experience, as well as the admiration from family and friends who attended the event to watch and cheer us on. Everyone wants to do another performance routine, so we will be working on a new one soon.

The show was part theatre performance, part mass participation dance event. A great night of social dance featuring a whole range of local performers across many dance styles and ages, and also involved professional actors and a live band. The Hawthorn Town Hall is a stunning venue and the lighting, huge mirror ball and atmosphere was electric.

The routine was also performed at several dances in July and Aug.
