Treat dance floors with respect.
We all love our dance floors and the great dance venues who welcome us. Rock and rollers have a great reputation as fun loving and well behaved patrons so lets all work together to hold true to that reputation and remember to treat our dance venues with respect. Please try not to spill drinks on the floor and avoid carrying drinks across the dance floor. If you do spill a drink, please make sure you wipe it up. A spilt drink can cause a slippin...Read Full Post »

You're never too old to rock! Here is a great youtube clip of Karin and Erwin Schilling on Sunrise TV show from 2011. It's a great interview and includes lots of footage of them dancing, including at Red Hot Rockers Adrian's dance class at the Whitehorse (where they learnt to dance many years ago) and a brief interview with Adrian.

Many Australian men don’t like to dance as they feel intimidated on the dance floor because they don’t know how to dance. Males who have taken the time to learn how to dance soon realize the benefits of being able to dance in a social setting and become confident in meeting new people. Apart from being a challenging fitness regime, dance classes also teach skills in co-ordination, how to knock down social barriers, how to express emotions and embrace a stranger respectfully in s...Read Full Post »

At Monday nights salsa class the term Ambidancer was used. An ambidancer is a person who can dance as both a lead and a follow. Durring the beginners class there were more ladies (follows) than guys (leads) so durring the class Adrian had the 2 spare ladies dance as leads and follows. At each roatation the follow moved on, the leading lady moved to become the follow and the next lady moving around the cirlce then had a go at leading. This meant that all the ladies (fol...Read Full Post »

The first salsa class on Mon 17th Oct at the lovely new venue at Chatham Primary School, Surrey Hills, was well attended and a lot of fun. Adrian spent time on learning the footwork for salsa and how to get the hips moving. We're all now great at counting 1,2,3,- 5,6,7 - :). Once the different footwork was mastered we then learnt 8 different moves and danced them to various speeds of music. Those familar with cha cha found it to be similar moves but with different foot...Read Full Post »

After 16 years of rock n roll at the Whitehorse Club, dances and dance classes at this great venue have sadly come to an end. After a considerable price rise the venue is no longer affordable, so the dances will be moving to a new location.
Adrian's dance classes have already moved on Wed night to Forest Hill hall, and now the regular 3rd Fri of the month dance has found a new home at the Ringwood Bowls Club.
The first dance will be on Fri 23rd Sept with ...Read Full Post »
