Have you ever joined in and danced the Switch at a rock n roll dance? At last saturday's CAV dance several rockers from Shepparton started to dance the switch, other couples then joined in until there was a long line of people dancing this progressive dance. It was great fun to dance an impromptu progressive dance and meet new people. It seems it's very popular at country dances, but rarely done in Melbourne which is a pity.
Adrian taught the switch at Buckley Park at the Valentines dance, and at the Glen Waverly Bowls Club dance on Sat 20th. He is continuing to teaching it at Camberwell on Sundays durring the social dancing. Soon there should be lots who now know the routine so we can dance it at social dances. If you want to have a go at learning the switch, come along to the social dancing from 6.30-8.30pm on Sunday. Its free if you bring a plate of food to share for dinner. If you see the switch being danced join in and say hello to some new people, but remember to only join in at the end of the row. It's a simple pub rock routine and a lot of fun.
Here's a youtube link to it being danced at Wintersun several years ago.
